Santiago de Cuba

About half a million people.

Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba is the second biggest city, tucked between green mountains and a wide bay in the east. It is known as the birthplace of Cuban music and dance.

You can climb to a big castle above the sea, dance at the summer carnival, and taste local sweets while trumpets play.

Castle by the sea

A huge stone castle called El Morro sits on a cliff above the bay. From the top you can see ships coming in from the ocean.
