San Jose is the capital and biggest city of Costa Rica, sitting high in a green valley between the mountains. It is the busy heart of the country, full of museums, markets, and friendly people.
You can see shiny gold treasures at the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, watch a show at the fancy National Theater, and taste tropical fruits at the Central Market. Kids love the Children's Museum inside an old castle-like fort.
