Salta is a beautiful colonial city in the mountains of northwest Argentina. People call it Salta la Linda, meaning Salta the Beautiful, because of its lovely old buildings and colorful hills.
You can ride the cable car up San Bernardo Hill for a great view, explore old churches on the main square, and take the famous Train to the Clouds high into the mountains. The nearby valleys have rocks in many colors.
