Paysandu is a busy river city in the west of Uruguay, right beside the Uruguay River and a big bridge to Argentina. It is known for its history, its factories, and a huge yearly beer festival.
You can cross the long bridge over the river, cool off at the riverside beaches, and join the fun Beer Week celebration in spring. The old cathedral in the center is worth a look.
