Panama City

Panama City is the busy capital of Panama and its biggest city. It sits right next to the famous Panama Canal, where huge ships pass between two oceans.

You can watch giant ships at the Miraflores Locks, walk the colorful old streets of Casco Viejo, and stroll the seaside path called the Cinta Costera with shiny skyscrapers all around.

The Panama Canal

The Panama Canal is a water highway that lets ships travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans without going all the way around South America. Special water elevators called locks lift and lower the boats.

Old town (Casco Viejo)

Casco Viejo is the old part of the city with pretty stone buildings, cozy plazas, and old churches. It is a fun place to eat ice cream and watch street musicians play.
