Murcia

Murcia is a sunny city in the southeast of Spain, surrounded by fields and orchards. So much fruit and vegetables grow nearby that it is nicknamed the Garden of Europe.

See the grand cathedral with its fancy carved front, stroll across bridges over the Segura River, and taste sweet fruits and vegetables grown in the gardens around town. Spring brings big flower festivals.

Gardens and farms

The land around Murcia is so rich that lemons, peaches, and vegetables grow all year. Trucks carry this fresh food to markets all across Europe.

Festivals

In spring Murcia holds happy parades with giant flower floats and people wearing traditional farm costumes. There is music, dancing, and lots of local food to share.
