Mexico City is the capital and the heart of the country, where the government, art, and business all come together. It was built on the site of the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan.
You can explore the giant main square called the Zocalo, ride a colorful boat through the canals of Xochimilco, and visit huge museums full of dinosaur bones and Aztec treasures.

Right in the middle of the city you can see the Templo Mayor, the ruins of a great Aztec temple that is more than 500 years old.

Street stands sell warm tacos, sweet churros, and steamy tamales, making the whole city smell delicious.
