About 160 thousand people.

Cartago

Cartago was the very first capital of Costa Rica and is one of its oldest cities. It rests at the foot of a tall volcano and is famous for its beautiful old church.

Visit the grand Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, explore the ivy-covered ruins of an old church, and drive up to the giant Irazu Volcano to peek into its crater.
