Belize City

About 60 thousand people.

Belize City

Belize City is the biggest city and the busy heart of the country, sitting right where the Belize River meets the Caribbean Sea. For a long time it was the capital, and it is still the main place for boats, business, and travel.

You can watch the old Swing Bridge turn to let boats pass, hop on a water taxi to the islands, and taste fresh coconut treats by the sea.

Old town

The old part of town has colorful wooden houses and the famous Swing Bridge, one of the last hand-turned bridges in the world.

Sea life

Boats leave from here to reefs full of fish, dolphins, and sea turtles, so it is a doorway to underwater adventures.
