The story
Monet painted this happy summer scene in 1873 near his home in the town of Argenteuil, close to Paris.
The style
He dabbed the red poppies with quick spots of paint so the flowers seem to sway in a soft breeze.
Look closer
Look carefully and you can spot two pairs of people, one near the top of the hill and one below.

You can see this cheerful painting at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, France.
Fun fact
The woman and child were most likely Monet's own wife Camille and their son Jean.
